Anakena Beach

In this post, I'm gonna continue talking about Easter Islans. Easter Island as I said before, is a volcanic island in the middle of Pacific Ocean. The coastal edge of the island is very high, with cliffs all around.There are just two sandy beaches in the island, I'm gonna talk about Ovahe and Anakena Beach.

Ovahe is a beautiful beach located 30 km from Hanga Roa. The main attractive of this beach is the colour of the sand: Pink.

Anakena Beach is a white coral sand beach, with turquoise blue water, palm trees and of course: an archeological place is located here, Ahu Nau Nau. The legend tells that King Hotu Matua landed here, and in this place was located the first settlement of Rapa Nui's people. After that, this place was turned into a ceremonial place. In the beach you can find some services like places to eat, bathrooms, parking and stores. Is a beautiful and must be seen place in the island.

Easter Island pt. 1

Because I saw that I have some visitors from countries that aren't hispanic, I decided to create a new entry in english. And I'll start talking about Easter Island.

I went to this beautiful and magic place just this year, exactly in April. Easter Island is located in the middle of the Pacific Ocean, approximately 3600 km from Chile and 4200 km from Tahiti. It was called Easter Island because its discovery was on Easter day in 1722 by the dutch sailor Jacob Roggeveen. The original name given by original inhabitants was Rapa Nui or Te Pito o te Henua (navel of the world).

Easter Island (Isla de pascua in spanish) is a volcanic island, with 3 inactives volcanoes in its corners: Terevaka (highest mountain in the island), Poike and Rano Kau. The most important attractives of this place are the Moai, the big statues built by Rapa Nui people, which objective were to remember the dead's ancestors and get protection from them. The Moai are located over platforms called Ahu, and in front of the Ahu lived the people, in houses built with stone, branches an leaves.

I stayed at Tiare Pacific hotel, a place very nice and familiar. While I was there, I visited interesting places, eat and drink and walk a lot,and of course, I get very relaxed after my vacations. I will continue talking about this amazing place in the next entries. I think that this is a place you must visit once of your life time.
